A year on from its grand opening, Shangri-La The Shard required a fresh approach and a media buzz to accompany the launch of their new suites. Sarah Miller & Partners were asked to develop a concept to attract media and press, and organise a launch party which would not serve simply as a PR tool but also create innovative and inspiring content within the hotel.

Sarah Miller & Partners curated a selection of artists and designers from the worlds of photography, dance and fashion to perform in a series of stunning showcases throughout the evening. The event included a photographic exhibition by leading Japanese fashion and portrait photographer Hiro Arakawa, which took place in the suites. Guests also enjoyed a performative piece directed by Carolyn Choa, who worked with film-maker Adam Baroukh, martial artist Stephen Pucci, and calligrapher Gigi Leung to create an installation based on the famous poem by Su Shi (1037-1101AD), which took place in the hotel’s grand atrium. The evening also celebrated a fashion showcase by award-winning Korean designers Eudon Choi and J. JS. Lee, which took place around the hotel pool.

These birthday celebrations also led to of our curated series of Cultural Salons. Based on the theme of ‘East Meets West’, these salons celebrated luminaries from across the artistic spectrum who had links to or are inspired by different facets of Asian culture.
